of two worlds - Exhibition
On the 8th of November 2018 the vernissage of the exhibition “On the border of two worlds” took place at the IYMC. The exhibition presents drawings and graphics by Paweł Warchoł and objects and installations of Waldemar Rudyk.
The unconventional form of guiding through the exhibition was presented by the band M.O.L.O. (Jacek Hołubowski, Mateusz Pliniewicz, Piotr Skupniewicz), who composed 7 works especially for the needs of this project and them being a musical illustration of the creativity of both artists. The project is accompanied by a unique Polish-German catalogue by Ewa Natkaniec, containing the texts of Małgorzata Gwóźdź.
The vernissage was opened by Leszek Szuster - director of the IYMC, Janusz Chwierut - Mayor of Oświęcim, Janina Świerz -secretary of Chełmek Commune and Dr. Michael Groß - Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Krakow. Also the artists gave a few words, referring to the inspirations that accompanied the creation of the exhibition.
After the opening the performance "Pegasus of Freedom" took place in the garden of the IYMC, during which a hologram of a sculpture by Waldemar Rudyk was projected on an installation. The Pegasus will be built in the spring of next year and will be presented at the IYMC on the 19th of April , the anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. On the May the 3rd, the national feast commemorating declaration of the Constitution of 3 May 1791, the sculpture will be transported to the Oświęcim Market Square, and then on the 1st of August, the National Day Remembrance of the Warsaw Uprising it will settle down in Chełmek and return to its final destination the IYMC on the 11th of November next year.
The exhibition is shown at the IYMC until the end of December 2018.
The project was possible thanks to the partnership of the General Consulate of the Federal Republic of Germany in Krakow, the General Consulate of Austria in Krakow, the City of Oświęcim, the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, the Office for International Affairs of the City of Nürnberg, the City of Chełmek and the support of the companies: Enco, Omag, Ipsen Logistics, Meta, Austrotherm, Re-bau, Grupa Kęty, Würth and Plantpol.
