On 27th of January the representatives of workers and volunteers of the IYMC in Oswiecim took part in the ceremonies commemorating the 74th anniversary of the liberation of the Concentration Camp Auschwitz-Birkenau as well as the town of Oświęcim.
In the afternoon Armin Laschet – the Prime Minister of the North Rhine-Westphalia visited our Centre and had a meeting with the group from “Union progressiver Juden in Deutschland” from Bielefeld. The very same day we’ve hosted also the delegations of the districts Dachau (Germany) and Oświęcim with their heads: Landrat Stefan Löwl and Starost Marcin Niedziela, who were talking about the partnership and exchange between those two regions.
In the evening during the meeting of the representatives of the partner towns of Oświęcim, the Mayor of Oświęcim Janusz Chwierut and the head of Managing Board of the IYMC Foundation Dr. Alicja Batuś presented the mission and activities of our Centre. The partner towns of Oświęcim are: Kerpen (Germany), San Vith (Belgium ), Dachau (Germany), Breisach am Rhein (Germany), Ballan-Mire (France), Cori (Italy), Arezzo (Italy), Sambor (Ukraine) and Medina de Pomar (Spain).
