A HOUSE TO LIVE
A PLACE TO LEARN

We are in the town of Oświęcim to remind about Auschwitz. To convince, that we must learn from the past. We show that Oświęcim can be a place of meetings, reconciliation, and understanding. We are in the town of Oświęcim so that Auschwitz will not be repeated.

90th birthday of Mrs Zdzisława Włodarczyk

Today at the IYMC, together with the staff of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum and the Centre for Dialogue and Prayer in Oświęcim, we celebrated Mrs Zdzisława Włodarczyk's 90th birthday.

Mrs Zdzisława, we wish you good health and all the best!

We would like to thank Olga Romańczuk-Fiedorowicz, a pupil of the State Music School in Oświęcim, for the beautiful musical setting of the event. Zdzisława Włodarczyk was born on August 21st 1933. She was only 11 years old when, together with her younger brother and mother, she was deported on August 12th 1944 from burning Warsaw to Auschwitz Concentration Camp. She lived to see liberation in the camp. For many years, Ms Zdzisława has been meeting with groups of young people at the IYMC, sharing her personal memories.
