Kukurba & Słowiński Project
On January 1, 2020, for the third time at the IYMC, we celebrated the first day of the New Year with jazz music. After the piano concerts by Adam Makowicz (2018) and Włodek Pawlik (2019), it was time for a slightly more extensive line-up. On the JazzOś stage we presented Kukurba & Slowinski Project - an original music project of Tomasz Kukurba, a charismatic viola player, frontman of Kroke band and Stanisław Słowiński, one of the best jazz violinists in Poland, to whom they invited musicians of the young jazz scene: Franciszek Raczkowski (piano), Justyn Małodobry (double bass) and Stefan Raczkowski (drums).
Jazz, rock, traditional music from different regions of the world - in an unusual, surprising mixture and brilliant performance - the concert literally enchanted the Oświęcim audience. As Tomasz Kukurba aptly emphasized, the New Year's evening of the IYMC emanated a powerful and good energy of music and its audience. The concert gathered about 180 people, who, together with the artists, made a toast to a successful New Year 2020. During the concert, a public collection was carried out for the Maria and Stanisław Neumann Fund for further academic education for young people from Oświęcim, which raised PLN 2,700. Thank you very much!
The New Year's meeting was an opportunity to thank the Friends and Donors of our Centre, including the partners of the concert: the City of Oświęcim and companies: Omag, EnCo, Meta, Ipsen Logistics, Austrotherm, Karczma Zagroda Wygiełzów and Krak-Instal.
