1st Poster Biennale
On 29 May 2006 the Jury of the 1st International Socio-Political Poster Biennale held its meeting in the International Youth Meeting Centre in Oświęcim/Auschwitz. The Jury included: Prof. Roman Kalarus, Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice – Chairman; Prof. Eugeniusz Delekta, Art Department of the University of Silesia, Cieszyn; Milan Mazur, Považská Galeria Umenia in Żylina, Slovakia. They met in the presence of the Biennale’s curator Paweł Warchoł and of a representative of the IYMC – Elżbieta Pasternak.
Out of 390 Posters submitted by 198 authors from 21 countries 104 posters were chosen for the exhibition of the 1st International Socio-Political Poster Biennale. Out of those 104 posters the following prizes were awarded:
- 1st Prize for the poster entitled “Victory” by Li Hai-Ping from China
- 2nd Prize for the poster entitled “Przeciw nietolerancji” by Sebastian Kubica from Poland
- 3rd Prize for the poster entitled “Peace kills” by Ali Afsarpour from Iran
HONORABLE MENTION:
- Sanaz Tathin Moghaddam from Iran for the poster entitled “Working children”
- Lin Horng-Jer from Taiwan for the poster entitled “No terrorist”
- Bogna Otto-Węgrzyn from Poland for the poster entitled ”Matko Polko”
- Magdalena Drobczyk from Poland for the poster entitled ”Japan-USA”
- Cai Shiwei Eric from China for a series of posters entitled “The 65th Commemoration of Nanjing Massacre”
