2nd Poster Biennale

173 authors from 18 countries (Belarus, China, Croatia, the Czech Republic, France, Hungary, Iran, Japan, South Korea, Macau, Germany, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Taiwan, Turkey, the USA and Great Britain) participated in the contest. 342 posters were sent, 70 of which qualified for the Biennale.

On the 10th June 2008, the International Youth Meeting Center housed the deliberations of the jury of the 2nd International Socio-Political Poster Biennale in Oświęcim (Auschwitz), composed of: presiding juror - prof. Tadeusz Grabowski, the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, Poland; Milan Mazur, Považská Galéria Umienia in Žilina, Slovakia; Gerhard Kindermann, Berufsverband Bildener Kunstler in Bayern, Germany; Paweł Warchoł, a graphic artist, Oświęcim, Poland. The International Youth Meeting Center was represented in the jury deliberations by: Leszek Szuster, director, and Beata Kozłowska.

Jury granted the following awards:

  • 1st award was granted to VLADIMIR CHAIKA (Russia) for the poster “Think global. Act local”
  • 2nd award was granted to MAGDALENA DROBCZYK (Poland) for the poster “No name”
  • 3rd award was granted to ROSŁAW SZAYBO (Poland) for the poster “Pekin”

Honorable mentions were granted to:

  • DMITRY ZAKHAROFF (Russia) for the poster “Kosowo”
  • MEHDI SAEEDI (Iran) for the poster “Ladies and gentleman I represent the new symbol of peace”
  • ARTUR STARCZEWSKI (Poland) for the poster “Bez tytułu”
  • YIN ZHONGJUN (China) for the poster “The Future World”
  • ERIN WRIGHT (USA) for the poster “Identity 2006”
