Poster Biennale

142 artists from 18 countries (Poland, Russia, Lithuania, Taiwan, Czech Republic, Mexico, China, Italy, Slovakia, Turkey, Germany, Serbia, Argentina, Japan, Ukraine, Greece, Iran and USA) participated in our competition. From 312 posters sent to us by artists, 72 were qualified for the competition exhibition.

The Jury of the Fifth International Socio-Political Poster Biennale debated at the International Youth Meeting Centre (IYMC) in Oświęcim, Poland, on 28 May 2012. The members of the Jury: Prof. Werner Schaub, Bundesverbandes Bildender Künstlerinnen und Künstler, Internationalen Gesellschaft der Bildenden Künste in Berlin, Germany – chairman; Prof. Józef Hołard, the University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland; Peter Grohmann, the AnStifter Foundation of Stuttgart, Germany; Krzysztof Dydo, the Poster Gallery in Kraków, Poland; Paweł Warchoł, outstanding graphic artist, curator of the Biennale, Oświęcim, Poland; Leszek Szuster, IYMC Director, Oświęcim, Poland; Bożena Grzywa, IYMC, Oświęcim, Poland.

The Jury made the following Awards:

• 1st Prize SEBASTIAN KUBICA (Poland) for the poster „Compromise”
• 2nd Prize NICOS TERZIS (Greece) for the poster „Mayday”
• 3rd Prize ALICE DRUEDING and JOE SCORSONE (USA) for the poster „Global hunger”

• AnStifter Foundation Prize: PRZEMYSŁAW BUKOWSKI (Poland) for the poster „Face to face”
• Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków Prize: LESZEK ŻEBROWSKI (Poland) for the poster „Nie truj”
• Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice Prize: HALINA HOŁUBOWA (Ukraine) for the poster „Crime scene”
• Rector of the Higher Technical School in Katowice Prize: LUO XI (China) for the poster „Re-strictions of Internet”
