6th National Conference "Auschwitz and the Holocaust Against the Crime of Genocide in the Twentieth Century"

During the sixth edition of the conference, the speakers and participants discussed liberation in both physical (liberation from slavery) and psychological (dealing with the trauma of the camp experiences, totalitarian enslavement, and the consequences of the crimes of genocide), the process of punishment of perpetrators as well as redressing victims, and the concept reconciliation - what does it consist of and what is the role of memorial sites in the reconciliation process. The conference also drew attention to a number of important anniversaries falling in 2015 (including the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the German Nazi Concentration and Extermination Camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II, the 75th anniversary of the Katyn Massacre and the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide).
