#STOLEN MEMORY SOCIAL CAMPAIGN

The #StolenMemory ('Stolen Memory') social campaign was initiated in 2016 by the Arolsen Archives International Center for Nazi Persecution in Bad Arolsen. Inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, the institution has the world’s largest archive dedicated to victims of the Nazi regime. The goal of the #StolenMemory campaign is to return the personal belongings of former concentration camp prisoners to their families. The campaign is run in parallel in many cities in Poland, based on cooperation with volunteers whose task is to search for families of former prisoners. The accompanying exhibition, apart from presenting the history of the occupation in Poland, consists of sections devoted to the people already found and those currently sought.

The collection of belongings is available online and it can be searched by surname, nationality, and birth date: digitalcollections.its-arolsen.org/010209/name

We encourage volunteers, teachers, and educators to cooperate!
