A HOUSE TO LIVE
A PLACE TO LEARN

We are in the town of Oświęcim to remind about Auschwitz. To convince, that we must learn from the past. We show that Oświęcim can be a place of meetings, reconciliation, and understanding. We are in the town of Oświęcim so that Auschwitz will not be repeated.

Communicating Memory

Stuttgart Media University students at the IYMC

In the days 31.07.-03.08.2020 3 students of the Stuttgart Media University:  Noah Vaca Weber, Tabea Günzler, Ramon Mebrahtu (on photo from left to right), did research in the IYMC and in the Auschwitz Memorial for reports in the project “Communicating Memory”, which is led by Prof. Katarina Bader, member of the foundation council of the IYMC. The students originally planned to participate in the German-Polish seminar for journalism students "Communicating Remembrance", which was to take place in the IYMC in April 2020 around the March of the Living and had to be postponed to 2021 due to the Covid pandemic. The students dealt with topics such as remembering the genocide of the Sinti and Roma, dealing with the Holocaust in school lessons in Germany and Poland, as well as digital and virtual forms of remembrance. For this purpose they conducted interviews with IYMC staff.
