DAFFODILS ACTION
80TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE WARSAW GHETTO UPRISING
Today, April 19, we commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, paying tribute to all victims of the uprising and the Holocaust. This year we especially commemorate the civilians in the ghetto - all those who, although not in the Jewish Combat Organization, fought for their lives and freedom.
The IYMC has joined the Daffodil Action since its first edition. This year, we met to pin daffodils, to present to the groups staying at the IYMC the story of the uprising, of Marek Edelman and Zalman Akerman - one of the civilians who quietly resisted in the uprising. We also prepared a screening of the film "Shielding the flame” and a plaque on which we pinned commemorative photos from the Daffodil Action. This year's Action was coordinated by our volunteer Joran Zurmühl.
