A HOUSE TO LIVE
A PLACE TO LEARN

We are in the town of Oświęcim to remind about Auschwitz. To convince, that we must learn from the past. We show that Oświęcim can be a place of meetings, reconciliation, and understanding. We are in the town of Oświęcim so that Auschwitz will not be repeated.

FAREWELL TO THE DIRECTOR

LESZEK SZUSTER

On March 31, 2022 Director Leszek Szuster, who headed our Polish-German Foundation for 26 years, left the International Youth Meeting Centre. He ended his work with the decision to retire. Director Szuster officially said goodbye to the Partners and Friends of the House on 26 March. During the meeting, he dedicated musical pieces performed by Maria Kudełka-Gonet, Piotr and Jan Kudełek, Weronika and Marcin Boiński as well as Wieśek "Dziki" Kaniowski and Tadek Liszewski to individual people. The ceremony was an opportunity to award Leszek Szuster with the Medal of the City of Oświęcim, presented by Mayor Janusz Chwierut. Earlier - on March 11 - during the vernissage "Back Home," the Director said goodbye to the artists with whom he had the pleasure of working during the realization of many exhibitions and artistic projects. On March 6, he bid farewell to the guests of a project that was particularly close to him-the Salon of Poetry-with a poetic meeting with Anna Dymna, Natalia Kaja Chmielewska, Bronisław May, and Mateusz Pliniewicz. We, the employees of the IYMC, bade farewell with great sadness to our Director - an outstanding humanist, educator, great organizer, lover of art, a man of great heart and knowledge, a person who inspired us all every day - on his last day at work. Dear Mr. Leszek - from the bottom of our hearts we wish you peace and the realization of your own plans in retirement, and we hope for many more meetings together at our Center.
