FORGOTTEN MEMORIES. Family memories of the Holocaust. Remembrance seminar with Sinti from Germany
Action Reconciliation Service for Peace, together with the First Sinti Association of East Frisia and the IYMC, organized a seminar that took place from 29 September to 3 October at the meeting place.
Most of the participants in this project were descendants of Sinti who survived the Second World War and settled in the area around Leer (Lower Saxony).
"Our relatives who survived Auschwitz did not tell us much. There was a lot of shame and they wanted to protect us. But, somehow we did hear one or two things. We knew about the persecution.", said one participant, in which the search for traces of murdered family members was an important part.
