We are in the town of Oświęcim to remind about Auschwitz. To convince, that we must learn from the past. We show that Oświęcim can be a place of meetings, reconciliation, and understanding. We are in the town of Oświęcim so that Auschwitz will not be repeated.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE IAC

The General Assembly of the International Auschwitz Committee was held from 5 to 7 September at the International Youth Meeting Centre in Oświęcim. Delegates from many countries laid wreaths at the Death Wall and at the International Monument to the Victims of the Camp on the grounds of the Auschwitz-Birkenau German concentration and extermination camp. The proceedings were opened by Marian Turski, President, Christoph Heubner,  Executive Vice President, Joanna Klęczar-Déodat, Director of the IYMC, and Dr Michael Groß, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Krakow. The President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and the President of the Bundestag Bärbel Bas also sent an official greeting. The programme for the remainder of the meeting included reports, lectures and discussions.
