LEFT US TOO SOON

It is with great regret that we have received the news of the passing of Martin Kress - co-founder, together with Barbara Kress, of the Destillarta Gallery in Buchschwabach, and long-time partner of the International Youth Meeting Centre in Oświęcim. 
For more than 10 years, the IYMC has collaborated with the Destillarta Gallery on many art projects. The presentation of Bela Farago's exhibitions (‘Totentantz’, ‘Welcome to Paradise’) or the work of Paweł Warchoł and Waldemar Rudyk in Nuremberg and Buchschwabach formed the basis for a close relationship that resulted in further projects. It is to Barbara and Martin Kress that we owe the presentation of ‘Christ of Auschwitz’ with Zofia Posmysz in Nuremberg or the exhibition by Elżbieta Kuraj and Janusz Karbowniczek ‘Harmony-Dissonance’ in the old mill in Buchschwabach. These special events with Martin and Basia and their numerous visits to our centre have turned them from partners into dear friends. We are grateful for all the projects and the time spent together. Martin, we will miss you....
