Remembrance Enclosed in Enamel

On September 2, 2021, at the IYMC, with the participation of artists and invited guests, the finissage of "Remembrance Enclosed in Enamel" took place. An exhibition, presented for over two months in the IYMC, was a result of the International Artistic Enamel Project, which had been ongoing since March 2020.

Representatives of local authorities took the floor during the ceremony - on behalf of Iwona Gibas, member of the board of the Małopolska Region, who took honorary patronage of the project, there was Dariusz Gawęda, who read out a letter addressed to the participants of the finissage. Next, the deputy mayor of Oświęcim, Paweł Kobielusz, and the deputy starost of Oświęcim, Krzysztof Kania, addressed the artists, organizers, and audience. The former honorary consul of Austria in Cracow, Andrzej Tombiński, also expressed his appreciation for the artists and organizers.

Among the guests at the closing ceremony were representatives of the diplomatic missions of the countries from which the artists participating in the project come from. The invitation to this special evening was accepted by the vice consul of Germany in Krakow, Ursula Maier, and the representative of the Slovak consul, Slavomir Nagy. Also present were representatives of Borussia Dortmund: Daniel Loercher and Andreas Kahrs, who have been cooperating with the House for years.

The participants were introduced to the secrets of the little-known technique of artistic enamel by Prof. Elżbieta Kuraj, who discussed the work of each of the artists, demonstrating the diverse possibilities offered by this medium. Beforehand, a documentary by Bartosz Fátek entitled "Nad Ostravici" was screened. "Above Ostravice". The musical setting of the event was provided by Piotr Skupniewicz. Each participant of the closing received a Polish-English-German catalogue of the exhibition.
