A HOUSE TO LIVE
A PLACE TO LEARN

We are in the town of Oświęcim to remind about Auschwitz. To convince, that we must learn from the past. We show that Oświęcim can be a place of meetings, reconciliation, and understanding. We are in the town of Oświęcim so that Auschwitz will not be repeated.

Roma and Sinti Genocide Remembrance Day

August 2nd has been designated as Roma and Sinti Genocide Remembrance Day.

On the night of August 2nd to 3rd, 1944, the Germans liquidated the so-called "Gypsy camp" at KL Auschwitz II-Birkenau. Around 4,300 children, women, and men were killed. This year we marked the 80th anniversary of the liquidation of the Roma camp in Auschwitz.

On this occasion the part of the international youth event Dikh He Na Bister took place at MDSM/IYMC. It was organized by the ternYpe International Roma Youth Network. The group of youth from different countries in Europe consisted of 500 people. The program included lunch and meeting with Survivor.

The participants had the possibility to ask questions to Mr. Christian Pfeil - Sinto who was born in Lublin ghetto. We were also honored to host Ms. Claudia Roth - Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, Ms. Hanna Wróblewska, Minister of Culture and National Heritage of Poland and Mr. Marian Turski.
