Association for the Promotion of the International Youth Meeting Centre Oświęcim/Auschwitz, Wolfsburg
The "Association for the Promotion of the International Youth Meeting Centre Oświęcim/Auschwitz, Wolfsburg" (registered association) was founded by Germans and Poles from the Wolfsburg region. All founding members have participated in projects run by Volkswagen AG and the International Auschwitz Committee at the International Youth Meeting Center in Oświęcim/Auschwitz in recent years.
The experiences and impressions from these projects have deeply touched and shaped us: in the memory of those murdered in Auschwitz, in the empathy and cooperation with survivors of the camp, and in the commitment to diversity and tolerance in a democratic society.
Added to this, for all of us in Oświęcim grew the sensitivity regarding the threat to democracy posed by the dangers of right-wing extremism, anti-Semitism, and racist hatred against Roma in Europe.
It is precisely against this background that we have come to appreciate the work and the lively and creative atmosphere of the International Youth Meeting Centre in Oświęcim/Auschwitz: And that is why we want to make this learning and life experience possible for other people, young people and adults, at the Youth Meeting Centre and at the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial.
