10th International Socio-Political Poster Biennale ‘Creative for Human Rights’
Opening of the exhibition
We would like to invite you to the opening of the exhibition of the 10th International Socio-Political Poster Biennale ‘Creatively for Human Rights’, which will take place on 27 September at 6 p.m. at the IYMC. The opening will be accompanied by a concert by the ‘Symetrio’ accordion trio.
Running continuously since 2006, the International Socio-Political Poster Biennale is one of the most important projects of the IYMC, providing an artistic forum for the exchange of views on the most pressing problems of the contemporary world. Each edition attracts the interest of many outstanding artists, representing different countries and cultures. The posters submitted tackle a wide range of issues related to human rights violations: racism, discrimination, social inequality, violence, war, the impact of politics on citizens' lives, violations of women's, children's and minority rights. During the 18 years of the project, the Oświęcim Poster Biennale has become one of the most recognisable international poster competitions, and Oświęcim - City of Peace has become an important centre of politically and socially engaged poster art in Poland.
This year's competition attracted 207 artists from 24 countries (Belarus, Bulgaria, China, Denmark, Ecuador, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iran, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Cuba, Malaysia, Mexico, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, USA, Taiwan, Ukraine). Of the 481 posters submitted by artists, 80 qualified for the exhibition. A detailed list of the posters awarded and qualified for the exhibition is available on the IYMC website: mdsm.pl/aktualnosci/post/10-miedzynarodowe-biennale-plakatu-spoleczno-politycznego.
The 10th International Socio-Political Poster Biennale is accompanied by a catalogue presenting the posters awarded and qualified for the exhibition.
The exhibition will be on display at the IYMC until 31 December 2024.
The 10th International Biennale of Social and Political Posters ‘Creative for Human Rights’ has received honorary patronage from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
